Flower Party

The Flower Party takes place this year from May 4 to 21 in Funchal.

It´s a tribute to spring and a period when Madeira is more flowery … it´s impossible not to fall in love with this beautiful party.

I think the most important moment of the party is the Parade that takes plane on Sunday afternoon (this year will be on 07/05 at 4pm).
The parade resembles the carnival, but with much more purity … there are floats full of flowers and even fruits, which give a charming color to the streets of Funchal. In floats, children and adults with fantasies that honor the spring. All this to the sound of musical marches.

But the party is not just about the parade. Between the 4th and 21st of May, we have the Flower Market, where both tourists and residents get to know a little more about the species that Madeira hosts; The Exhibition of Flowers and Workshops that takes place in Praça do Povo, in the center of Funchal; In addition there are the Floral Rugs and Decorations, which occupy the pedestrian spaces of Avenida Arriaga.

And for the first time the Madeira Auto Parade will take place, on Sunday, May 14, at 4pm. A parade that aims to add the glamour of cars and classic motorcycles to the flowers of Madeira. There are about 400 vehicles, including 150 motorcycles, which will run in pairs with various musical bands, with children and adults dressed in their costumes inspired by the flowers of Madeira.
